After the Meeting of February 1, 2000 some members have asked how the grid separating the icons on my desktop was created.
Answer:
Windows wallpaper
* NOTE *
This application works best for those using Windows 98 with 600x800 or 1024x768 screen resolution !!
The 640x480 version does not provide room for labels.
The files will work in Windows 95 as well but you will have to follow Windows 95 wallpaper installation procedures and the screen shots below will not be the same.
The Wallpaper grids were created using a photo/image editing program and have a blue background and grids of light blue done with the line drawing feature.
The proper file to match your screen size should be placed in your C:\Windows folder.
You may install them all and this will allow you to swap the grid when you change screen resolution.
Click on one of the following self extracting EXE files
This one for 800x600 Resolution
This one for 1024x768 Resolution
This one for 640x480 Resolution
Running this file with it's default settings will install the proper Wallpaper in your C:\Windows folder.
In Internet Explorer select to [ Run it in it's current location ]
In Netscape Save to desktop and then run it from there.
You should see a screen such as the one below for the file you have selected
Click on [ Unzip ]
Then right click your mouse anywhere on a blank spot on the desktop
You should see a menu like the one below:

Now click on the [ Effects ] tab

Make sure that [ Use Large Icons ] is NOT selected.Click on [Apply] [OK] and your screen should appear with the grids.
Now Click on the [ Appearance Tab ] and set the color to match the background as below

You may edit any of the grid bitmap files in your photo editor or the Windows Paint program
to change the colors, add or change lettering, add more lines or customize it any way you wish.
* JUST DON'T RESIZE IT! *
To get your Icons to line up with the grids properly right click anywhere on the desktop for the following menu

If you want to have the Icons in a special order as I have then rename them so they sort properly.
Right click on the Icon and select [ Rename ]
They will sort alphanumerically so it is easy to name them to come out the way you wish.
Have fun
